DY (Dongheng Yang) is an emerging craftsman/artist who has a focus on glass. His experience as a glassblower trying compulsively to blow glass symmetrically has largely informed his studio practice. He embraces humor and absurdity, pondering about the unachievable perfection and the inevitable flaws during glassblowing, which is undeniably an intrinsic nature of hand-made procedures. Vessels and the hands-on making experiences are essentially DY's key sources of inspiration. DY is interested in revisiting the traditional hand-made processes of glassware, their structural elements, and their functions as essentially presentational or serving mechanisms. He often plays with means of display, bringing furniture and architectural structures into his jokes.
